The Lost in Paradise FIS Para Snowboard World Cup and Festival was held at Whitehorse’s Mount Sima from March 27 to 31. The competition was the final set of Para Snowboard World Cup races for the season.

Snowboarders with disabilities participated in the para snowboarding banked slalom races on March 28 and 29 from the late morning to early afternoon.

The men’s and women’s banked slalom competitions were divided into three categories: SB-LL1 for snowboarders with significant impairment in one or both legs (and athletes with amputations who use prosthetic limbs); SB-LL2 for boarders with an impairment in one or both legs that causes less athletic limitation; and SB-UL for boarders with upper limb impairments.

According to results provided to the News by Canada Snowboard, American rider Darian Haynes claimed the top spot in the women’s banked slalom SB-UL category. Peggy Martin, also from the United States, finished second. (There was no third-place finisher in this category.)

Meanwhile, Italian Jacopo Luchini found the top of the podium in the same category for men, with American Mike Minor claiming second place and France’s Maxime Montaggioni in third.

The women’s lower limb categories were combined, with American Brenna Huckaby Clegg securing gold, France’s Cecile Hernandez claiming silver and the United Kingdom’s Nina Sparks earning bronze.

The men’s lower limb categories were divided into two competitions.

In the men’s SB-LL1 category, the U.S.’s Noah Elliott won gold, Japan’s Daichi Oguri won silver and Canada’s Tyler Turner took the bronze.

Emanuel Perathoner from Italy claimed the top spot on the podium in the men’s SB-LL2 category. Australian Ben Tudhope finished second, while American Zach Miller finished third.
