FH Collins’ SmartRisk group has held two student events this year. Our most recent was the Wear-The-Gear Dodgeball Tournament.

Its goal was to encourage students to “wear-the-gear,” one of SmartRisk’s key messages.

Five student teams participated in the tourney, as did a teachers’ team, which played the winning team. Many people showed up to watch the excitement. Players had fun wearing their safety gear, and one team even wore matching suits.

The success of this tournament has spurred plans for several more events. Our main event - planned jointly with the Vanier Catholic School, SmartRisk team and the Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board - is The Great Melon Splat.

This is the second year FH will host it, and we hope this one will be even better than last year’s.

Look for more information on how to get involved with The Great Melon Splat in the spring.
