Road cyclists in the territory will be gearing up for March 15.

That’s when registration opens for the Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay — better known to many Yukoners and Alaskans as the Haines-to-Haines.

This year’s relay, which runs from Haines Junction to Haines, Alaska, is set for June 15.

“Cyclists from around the world will converge on the breathtaking landscapes of Yukon and Alaska for an unforgettable day of thrilling competition and camaraderie,” organizers said in a statement announcing the registration and race dates.

This year’s event will see solo, two, four or eight-person team categories competing.

Organizers said it’s anticipated that all 1,200 rider spots will fill up.

A limit of 95 teams has been set for the eight-person category.

While ebikes are permitted in the eight-person team category, any eight-person team with an ebike can not place in the top three spots.

Teams can register at https://kcibr.org/content/registration beginning at 9 a.m. March 15.
