Wilfred Jacob Regehr passed away on October 26, 2018 at the age of 80, in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Wilf was born on December 31, 1937 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Peter and Anna Regehr, but spent most of his growing up years in the Abbotsford, BC area. He had one sister, Florence "Audrey" Regehr.
Wilf loved the farm life, and he was also part of a motorcycle gang called the "Earth Angels". Wilf married the love of his life, Shirley, on April 18, 1959. They got engaged only 10 days after they met! Wilf & Shirley moved to Vernon, BC in 1963 where Wilf worked in the dairy farm industry, and later in the farm equipment industry until 1987. In 1987 Wilf & Shirley made the move to Whitehorse, Yukon where Wilf started working as a night watchmen for the Salvation Army Adult Resource Centre. Soon he became more involved at the ARC and became the Director at the ARC until he retired in 2003. From 2003 until his death Wilf and Shirley spent their winters in Abbotsford but always came home to Whitehorse for the rest of the year.
Wilf is survived by his wife and sweetheart, Shirley Regehr; his children, Christine Regehr-Panter (Derek) of Whitehorse, Gordon Regehr (Ruth) of Spruce Grove, Alberta, and Sharon Regehr of Whitehorse. Wilf prayed for and loved without measure his eleven grandchildren; Jodi Hannah (Dustin) of Foam Lake, Saskatchewan, Dustin Neufeld (Erin) of Whitehorse, Joshua Heynen of Lethbridge, Alberta, Jonathan Regehr of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Melissa Dorn (Jon) of Stony Plain, Alberta, Michael Heynen of Edmonton, Alberta, Brittani Smith (Karson) of Regina, Saskatchewan, Daniel Regehr of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Nathaniel Heynen of Whitehorse, Kyle Regehr of Spruce Grove, Alberta and Kelsey Heynen of Whitehorse. Wilf was also blessed with three great-grandchildren; Aralee Hannah, Kaebri Hannah, and Hadley Neufeld. Since Wilf left this earth one more great-grandchild was born, Nashlyn Willa Hannah, and the fifth one is due in spring 2019.
Wilf is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Neufeld of Seattle, Washington, and two nieces, Brenda Rempel and Valerie Wiegele, also of Seattle, plus many cousins and friends, especially his "coffee buddies."
Wilf was pre-deceased by his parents, and his sister, Audrey Regehr.
A Celebration of Life for Wilf will be held at Mountainview Church on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 3 pm (light lunch to follow).
Wilf's ashes will be buried in Abbotsford with his parents and his sister.
