Dec 15, 1960 - May 7, 2018
After a short illness, Scott McCullough passed away on May 7, 2018 in the company of his adored partner, Sherry Bailor, and his beloved mother, Margaret (Maggie) McCullough. Other family members were close at hand and all are thankful for the opportunity they had to spend time with Scott over his last days. The presence of his daughter Simone McCullough was a particular comfort to him.
Scott had been living in Esquimault, B.C. prior to his diagnosis where he was employed as a civilian electrician on Canada's naval submarines: a super cool job for a super cool guy. Scott was a man who felt things passionately.
There was rarely grey in his life; he felt that most hills were big enough to die on and was always willing to explain why. If you didn't share his love of comic books and science fiction or progressive rock music or somehow laboured under the misapprehension that Justin Trudeau was a socially progressive force you would be schooled! His excellent sense of humour, his kind and compassionate viewpoint and his generosity towards others particularly those less fortunate saved him from being a garden variety curmudgeon and made it clear that he was a man who truly believed that it was never too late to build a better world. In particular a world with lots of submarines that were so well maintained that they never broke down.
Scott is survived by his partner Sherry Bailor, mother, Margaret McCullough, daughter Simone McCullough and son Rowan McCullough, his sisters Lesley McCullough (Glen Lamerton), and Helen (Brian Phelan) and brother James McCullough, nephews and nieces Sam Phelan-McCullough, Tallulah, Clementine and Jules Lamerton- McCullough and Aurelia and Ileana Koh.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kanachowski and Dr. MacDonald for all the help Scott was given in his last days and would like to express its gratitude to all the friends who came by to say farewell, in particular Bernie Phillips whose company and generous support meant so much to Scott.
A party in honour of Scott's life will be held at a future date.
