"A life well lived - a promise fulfilled".
Rose was born and raised with her 6 siblings in Daysland, AB. Her family eventually moved to Edmonton, where Rose worked as a secretary upon completing business school.
In 1948 Rose was introduced to the love of her life, Gordon by her brother Louie. May of 1949, they wed and with the promise of "only two years" Rose moved with Gordon to Watson Lake, Yukon.
Like many Yukon pioneer women, the promise of two years in the Yukon turned into 70 years. Rose and Gordon turned their dreams into reality by starting an aviation service, a fishing camp, and outfitting business, raising chickens providing eggs to Tungsten and Cassiar mines and eventually a hay growing business complete with a market garden.
Dispatcher, bookkeeper, expediter, travel agent, and all the other tasks that came with an active business lifestyle - Rose did it all.
Rose was a very active person, loving the outdoors, in her 50's she started downhill skiing with Gordon and their new found passion took them to spending winters at many ski resorts in BC, Alberta as well as Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany.
Rose always said it was the 13 winters spent on their trapline that brought her and Gordon the greatest happiness and memories. These times have been captured in her series of books "A Promised Fulfilled".
The most rewarding role was that of Mother. Together they raised their four sons and two daughters in the beautiful log house that Gordon built for Rose on the shore of Watson Lake.
Rose was predeceased by Gordon, and their firstborn son Denis and is survived by her loving children: Ron (Lena), Don (Donna), Bob (Debbie), Debbie (Darwyn), Patti (Brian) & Jamie (Anne).
"We take comfort knowing that Mom and Dad have been reunited."
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff at Whistle Bend Place for all the amazing care, respect and support they provided Rose during her stay.
