Kim Dormandy passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at approximately 10:20 pm at Whitehorse General Hospital following a very brief illness (not Covid related).
She was 82 years old, born in 1938.
She first moved north to live in Atlin, BC in 1969. She moved to Whitehorse in January of 1971. She worked for many years at the Post Office and later as the dormitory supervisor at Yukon College. She loved living in the Yukon and has many dear friends.
She leaves behind a daughter, Maria Taylor of North Carolina. She was predeceased by her husband Julian and daughter Andrea. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Astra, Dustin, Jasmine, Sunaura, Alexander, Tara, Rebecca and Luke, as well as five great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Isadora, Leonora (Badger), Andy and Benjamin.
Due to the pandemic, we hope to have a celebration of her life next summer, or early fall, once travel is again possible. In the meantime we would really appreciate reading stories that people may have about her. If you knew Kim and have a special memory of her and are willing to share, we would love to read your stories.
