Jean passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023 in Copper Ridge Place.
Born Hedvika Marie Jean Kurtin in Ottawa, Ontario in 1940, Jean was raised in Barns, Alberta and lived the remainder of her life in Whitehorse, Yukon, where she felt truly at home.
Jean was predeceased by mother Marie Letal Kurtin and father Josef Frank Kurtin. She is survived by her son Christopher Henke, daughter Cathy, grandson Makai, and two friends of over 50 years who were as close to her as family.
Jean's most cherished times were spent out at Army Beach on the weekends and summer months, where she and the "cabin crew" would get together and create countless fond memories. For many years, she was also actively involved with the ladies' baseball team Shannon Blues. Friendships she built with fellow team members endured until her passing.
No celebration of life is planned at this time.
