June 3, 1947 - January 1, 2022
Gregory died peacefully on January 1, 2022 at Wind River Hospice. He leaves behind seven children, nine grandchildren, three older siblings, and his dog, Scruffy. He is survived by his partner, Dianne Morgan, and many friends who were part of his 74 years of life.
Born in Toronto, Gregory grew up with a love of the outdoors and adventure. After hitchhiking around North America, and biking solo across Canada, he eventually moved to Carcross in 1974. It was in this period of his life that he made lifelong friendships, met his first wife, Lorraine Young, and explored the expansive landscapes, river valleys, and mountain peaks of the Yukon.
After he and Lorraine married, they moved to Old Crow in 1977 where they managed the local co-op store. They eventually settled in Whitehorse in 1979 and had three children, Sarah, Ben, and Lizz.
After Lorraine's death in 1988, Gregory married his second wife, Sandy, and helped raise her four children, Matt, Josh, Amy and Sarah, as his own.
His family is grateful for the friends who supported Gregory through the last year, as well as to the amazing staff of Homecare, the hospital, and Wind River Hospice.
A live-streamed funeral will be hosted on the Whitehorse United Church's Facebook page at 2 pm Yukon Time on Thursday, January 6th.
