June 17, 1944 - April 15, 2022
Gerry Thick, born June 17, 1944; loving husband, father, papa, brother, best friend and hunny bunny passed away peacefully on April 15, 2022 with his wife, Lori and daughter Megan by his side.
He was Lori's secret admirer when they got together in April 1991 and they married on June 26, 1999. He was a friend to many, father to 3; Megan, Dawna (Gary) & Deanna. He was a loving grandfather to 5 remaining Grandchildren; Nixon, Jackson, Aisha, Jordan & Taneisha. Brother to Donna of Alberta & Joan (Frank) of Saskatchewan, Great-Grandpa to Sophia & Mason. He was predeceased by his parents and granddaughter Carmen.
Gerry was a remarkable man with a heart of gold. With 29 years on the Arctic Winter Games International Committee, he was passionate about working hard for the youth of the North and was always an advocate for all things sports. He was inducted into the Yukon Sports Hall of Fame as a Builder for his work within the community in 1996. Ger was a loyal and dedicated Pepsi man for over 45 years and still loved going into the office. He enjoyed his weenie-wielding fishing trips, fixing computers, sports and spending time with his friends, family and dog Levi. He could always be found with Levi right next to him in the truck, waving to everyone.
He was someone we all looked up to and he will be lovingly missed.
At His request there will be no service but if you happen to find yourself up at the ballpark on Dustball Friday, raise a glass because he will be there in spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a charitable donation to Kids Recreation Fund through Sport Yukon.
