July 9, 1934 - January 30, 2024

Sunrise July 9, 1934 - Sunset January 30, 2024.

Our Mom, Edna was reunited with her beloved husband, Walt, on February 8th, 2024, at Grey Mountain. Mom and Dad were rarely apart in life, and now they will be together for eternity.

Mom and Dad were married in the Old Log Church in Whitehorse on September 17, 1955. They lived a comfortable life in Whitehorse, raising us kids, as well as welcoming many others into their home.

They retired to Atlin in 1991, where Mom always said they spent the "best 14 years of our lives". They moved back to Whitehorse in 2005, and after Dad passed away in 2008, Mom continued to live independently, until she moved into long term care in early 2023.

Mom had a passion for writing letters and poetry and was an avid reader. She had a great sense of humour, a quick wit, and always spoke her mind.

Mom was very strong and independent right to the end, and when asked how she was, she would raise her arm, flex her bicep, and say "Strong", and that it was "Mind over Matter".

Edna was predeceased by her husband Walt, sons Paul and Les, parents Bertha Smith and Nels Nielsen, sisters May, Rose and Barbara, and brothers Wilfred (Gus), Norman and Henry.

Edna will be greatly missed by her children Dave (Karen), Jody, Gail, Wendy (Norm), and Terry (Robyn), her 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, sister Rita and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Thank you to the health care workers, while Mom was at home, in the hospital and during her stay in Unit 4 of the Thomson Centre. We are forever grateful to everyone for their guidance, kind words and support throughout this challenging time.

A Celebration of Life for Mom will be held in the Summer of 2024.
