David was born in Dawson to European immigrant parents. The youngest of three children, he graduated from Robert Service School in 1981.
David apprenticed with YTG Highways and Northern Kat in Dawson after a pre-apprenticeship year at Yukon College. He went on to become a Red Seal Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
David worked for Northern Kat for years as a sub-contract employee in the mines at Faro and around Watson Lake, as well as for YTG Highways and the City of Whitehorse over the years. He also spent some years placer mining.
David is pre-deceased by his family, with the exception of one sister. A private funeral was held in Whitehorse, with burial at Grey Mountain Cemetery.
David will be remembered by his sister and many acquaintances throughout the Yukon.
