September 7, 1954 - December 12, 2023

In loving memory ~

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Chris McCulloch on December 12, 2023, in Whitehorse, Yukon. Chris was born on September 7, 1954, in Hobart, Tasmania and moved to Canada in 1966.

Chris led an adventurous life and loved the outdoors. In his younger years, he was an avid skydiver, winning the Canadian national championships, culminating with a gold medal at the 1977 World Sky Diving Championships. It was during this skydiving period that he met his wife, Maureen (née Senecal) and they were married for 46 years. They eventually settled in the Yukon in 1978,

a place Chris would never leave.

Chris was an aircraft mechanic by trade and operated Whitehorse Air Maintenance for over 40 years. Chris also operated Whitehorse Air Services, an air charter company that later expanded to provide glacier air tours from Haines Junction, Yukon, under the company name 'Kluane Glacier Air Tours'.

Chris enjoyed taking his family on various hunting, fishing, and skiing trips. They spent many summer weekends in Southeast Alaska on their beloved boat

"The Martini". Being an avid skier, Chris visited various ski resorts before settling on his favourite at Kicking Horse in Golden, B.C.

Chris was a devoted family man and was always there for his children - he supported all their endeavours and never missed a hockey game. He was tremendously proud that his sons and grandchildren have continued in the aviation industry.

Chris was blessed with 9 grandchildren who adoringly referred to him as "Poppy".

Chris is survived by his wife Maureen McCulloch, his sons Rob (Sylvia) and Matthew (Amanda), his daughter Michelle (Alex), and his grandchildren Jayden, Carter, Evan, Jarod, Cole, Alyssa, Christopher, Sara, and Alexander. Chris is also survived by his mother Beverley, brothers Peter, Alan, and Tracy, and sister Susan, and all their loving children.

A celebration of life for friends and family of Chris will be held at a later date.
