On January 1st, 2022 Cathy Lidstone passed away peacefully of natural causes in her adopted home of Whitehorse, Yukon with her children by her side.
Cathy will be deeply missed by her three children Lynn (Missy), Jamie and John, her brother Hugh Lidstone (lil sis' Michele), and pre-deceased (by just 9 days) by her precious Mr.Bojangles.
Catherine was born in the city of Montreal to John and Pearl Lidstone on November 20th, 1948. In the spirit of adventure Cathy boarded a train in the mid 70's and traveled clear across the country to Vancouver with her two children. Her well known obsession of all things having to do with all Egyptian history began in the late 70's and went into overdrive after attending an exhibit in Seattle in 1979. After ten years of the hustle and bustle in Vancouver, Cathy relocated to the amazing scenic city of Whitehorse. In the north, Cathy thrived as she fell in love with the community and especially the people. Her love for people and veterans drew her to being an integral part of The Legion's Lady's Auxiliary where she found a place to make long lasting relationships and an opportunity to make a difference in many people's lives.
Cathy was able to weave her penchant for helping people into a career as part of the customer service team at WHTV NorthwesTel. In her retirement Cathy maintained her sense of community in the building where she relocated, Waterfront Place. She was quick to smile and lend a hand and was impossible to miss riding her red scooter down by the Yukon River in the warm weather.
A small personal gathering was held in the common area of Waterfront Place where her friends paid their respects.
While Cathy will be sorely missed by many of us, she is reunited with Bo, along with Mummie, Daddy and all those that have gone before her. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations can be made to Mae Bachur Animal Shelter (which is a no-kill) in Whitehorse, in honour of Cathy Lidstone.
