Arnold was born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. He join the Navy 1942 to fight in World War 2. After the war he was employed for the Air Force in Calgary. There was there an opening in the Yukon in 1952 so he decided to give it a try. There he met Joan Lalonde who was employed as an Air Traffic Controller in the Air Force, they married in 1954.
Early in 1960, the Veinotts wanted to try something new and moved to Carmacks to manage the Taylor and Drury Store. Leaving the Taylor and Drury Store, the Veinotts built and ran the Braeburn Lodge in the early 60's.
In 1962 when their son Richard was to start school, the moved to Whitehorse. In 1962 Joan Veinott joined the late Erik Nielsen Law office. In 1963, after Linda was born, Joan joined the Yukon Government, eventually becoming Public Administrator as well as Chief Coroner. Arnold continued to work for the Air Force until 1968 when the Air Force left. After that he ran his own business until the early 90's. Joan Veinott received a 30 year long service pin from YTG, where she worked until her passing in 1993.
Arnold had no serious illnesses but passed away in his sleep on May 2, 2017. Arnold leaves to mourn: Linda Smeeton (Chris); his Grandchildren Kelsey and Scott and Richard who lives in Vancouver.
