March 20, 1949 - September 10, 2021
Anthony passed away at his home in Parksville on Vancouver Island after a brief illness, with family by his side. Born in Sussex, England, he came to Canada as a baby, growing up in and around Vancouver and the west coast.
He made his way to the Yukon as a young man, spent several years homesteading on the Stewart River with his first wife Kathy Bisset, and eventually settled in Whitehorse. His working life was wide and varied: a stint underground at Keno City, bush work all over the territory, carpentry, contracting, and estimating. Eventually his path led him to create Pure Essence Books, a well-loved Whitehorse bookstore, where he specialized in creating individual essential oil blends for his customers. He finished his working life as a Grief Counselor with Hospice Yukon, a role he treasured as the most meaningful of his life.
After 35 years in the Yukon, he moved to Vancouver Island where he spent ten glorious years learning to garden and make cheese. He never stopped learning and growing, and he believed deeply in the power of love to transform us.
Anthony leaves behind his dear partner of 29 years, Anne Louise Genest, his cherished Aunty Di Lockwood, and the many friends he made along his journey. We miss him terribly.
