December 24, 1928 - February 26, 2020
Anne passed away on February 26th, 2020, in her 92nd year, with family members watching over her at Whitehorse General Hospital.
She was born on December 24, 1928 in Carrot River, SK and was the youngest of 13 children (all predeceased). At the young age of 23, Anne adventured north to the Yukon via ferry and the WPY Railway from Skagway to Whitehorse. Here she met and married her husband of 53 years, Bert Vezina (predeceased). Together they had 5 children, all born in Whitehorse.
Anne will be remembered as someone who absolutely loved cooking and baking for whoever she could feed. She was at home in the outdoors, being an avid gardener and a super camper back in the day! Anne never complained about life's challenges, always choosing to find the best in all people and situations, and you could always hear her singing during most everything she did. It was a good day if there was ice cream and chocolate!
Anne devoted her life to her husband, her family and God.
Sadly missed by her loving children: Brian (Dorothy) Comox, B.C., Barbara (Dave) Whitehorse, Greg (Maureen) Surrey, B.C., Jeffrey (Gloria) Surrey, B.C. and Terri of Whitehorse. Also survived by her 3 grandsons, Daniel, Jeremiah and Joshua of Surrey, B.C.. Special mention to Pam Neish (deceased), Deb and Ed Keenan and their sons Edward Jr. (Jody) and Jonathon who have been a much loved and cherished part of Anne's extended family.
A celebration of Anne's life will follow this summer.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Share Magill for her years of dedicated service and friendship to Anne. Thank you to the staff at Whitehorse General Hospital for your compassion and for taking such great care of our mom.
