The Yukon Department of Education is replacing its student information system.

The new system, called Aspen, is the same used by the B.C. Department of Education, Minister Doug Graham announced today.

The student information system is what educators use to track, among other things, students’ contact information, grades and attendance.

The system currently used in Yukon schools is being discontinued by its provider Pearson Canada in 2016. It has been used in the Yukon since 2010.

Training on the new system is expected to start in the spring.
