An 18-year-old woman was found dead in a downtown Whitehorse home Wednesday afternoon.
A male friend discovered her body just after 4 p.m., said RCMP.
“It’s a tragedy,” said police spokesperson Sergeant Mark Groves. “It’s always a tragedy when someone dies before they’re supposed to.”
No major injuries were found on the woman and foul play is not suspected.
Police would not say whether the friend was in the residence or discovered the body upon arriving at the home.
RCMP have not ruled out a crime element until a coroner finishes an autopsy.
The RCMP Major Crime and Street Crime Reduction Team are still investigating along with the coroner’s office.
The woman’s name has been withheld until the family can be notified. (James Munson)
