Sunday, January 6 – The Feast of the Epiphany. Christians commemorate the visit of the wise men and for some the recognition of the divine nature of Jesus. This ends the liturgical Christmas season. Suggested reading Matthew 2:1-12.
Monday, January 7 – Christmas for Orthodox Christians who use the Julian calendar for their religious events.
Thursday, January 10 – Muharram marks the first day of the first month of the Islamic new year of 1429, which counts the number of years from the Hijra or emigration of the Prophet Muhammad to the city now known as Medina.
