Whitehorse RCMP have charged the driver of a car that was involved in a deadly collision on the Alaska Highway in August.
The driver, a 15-year-old girl, faces two counts of criminal negligence causing death and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
It was around 3 a.m. on August 9, a Saturday, when her northbound Honda Accord turned into the intersection of the Alaska Highway and Hamilton Boulevard and was struck by a southbound semi truck.
The front seat passenger, 20-year-old Brendan Kinney, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger, 15-year-old Clare Cherepak, died after being transported to Whitehorse General Hospital, and an 18-year-old male passenger was medevaced to Vancouver with serious injuries.
The driver of the semi truck was unharmed. The driver of the Accord was taken to Whitehorse General Hospital, treated for injuries and released.
She is scheduled to appear in Youth Court at a later date.
