Klondike MLA Sandy Silver announced last night that he will run for leader of the Yukon Liberal Party.
He made the announcement to constituents in Dawson City.
“Before I announce it anywhere else, I want to let you, my constituents, know that I will be running for the leader of the Yukon Liberal Party and to be the next Premier of the Yukon.”
Silver has served as the interim Liberal leader since Darius Elias left the party to serve as an independent last year.
Elias joined the Yukon Party earlier this month.
Silver is the only Liberal MLA currently sitting in the legislature.
The timing of the next Liberal leadership race has not yet been announced.
