A 23-year-old Yukon man was stabbed and four shots rang out from what police fear was a semi-automatic weapon early Friday morning in downtown Whitehorse.
Police arrived outside Lizard’s Lounge, a popular downtown nightclub, at about 2:50 a.m. and found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds, and four shell casings lying on the ground.
No one was injured from the shots, and eyewitness accounts have provided information police are using in their investigation, said Cpl. Leanne Lind with Whitehorse RCMP.
Charges for firing a semi-automatic weapon in downtown Whitehorse could range from careless use of a firearm and possessing a restricted weapon all the way to attempted murder, “depending on the circumstances,” she said.
A fight is believed to have broken out between the victim and two adult males.
Police have no suspects at this time and the investigation is continuing, said Lind.
The victim was taken by paramedics to Whitehorse General Hospital suffering from non-life threatening, superficial stab wounds, said an RCMP release.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to come forward, said Lind. (TQ)
