Early Saturday morning, Dawson City RCMP received a call about an overturned canoe with a paddler missing. The missing paddler is a 62-year-old man from Quebec. He is 6 ft. 1 in. and 180 lbs. He has salt-and-pepper hair and whiskers and greenish blue eyes. He was last seen 60 miles south of Dawson City. He was wearing a black fleece, black pants, a white tilly hat and a red personal flotation device.

The man, whose name has not been released, was visiting relatives. No information is available about the other canoeist. The canoe has not been recovered.

The Dawson City RCMP Detachment and volunteers from Klondike Search and Rescue Association are continuing their search. Recent bad weather is making the search more difficult, said John Mitchell, president of the Klondike Search and Rescue Association. He said the river is also extremely high.
