Robert Service Campground upgrades delayed a year

The City of Whitehorse will not be upgrading its facilities at the Robert Service Campground this year, despite the need for repairs to a few buildings.

The City of Whitehorse will not be upgrading its facilities at the Robert Service Campground this year, despite the need for repairs to a few buildings.

Linda Rapp, the city’s director of community and recreation services, said the campground will operate in 2016 with no changes.

That’s because submissions for this year’s capital budget were not approved, she said.

“There is work required to the roof of the office building, and to the washroom and shower facilities,” she said.

The City’s five-year lease expired in October 2015 but was extended another year, Rapp said.

“In the late spring, early summer we’ll have a better idea of what we’re looking at for the next budget cycle,” Rapp said.
