RCMP continue drug and alcohol patrols

Whitehorse RCMP conducted vehicle and foot patrols around the Whitehorse downtown and waterfront areas on July 27.

Whitehorse RCMP conducted vehicle and foot patrols around the Whitehorse downtown and waterfront areas on July 27. This was in response to complaints from local businesses and individuals who have witnessed illegal drug and alcohol activities in these areas. The RCMP did similar patrols on June 30.

Over the two days, officers interacted with more than 50 individuals, confiscated over 26 litres of liquor and 70 cans of beer, and arrested 10 people for gross intoxication. Warm weather makes these areas attractive for both legal and illegal activities, said Const. Christine Grant. Any individual who sees these activities is encouraged to contact the RCMP.
