Two men were taken to Whitehorse General Hospital with serious injuries after a crash Monday on the North Klondike Highway.
RCMP say it happened at 5:40 p.m. just north of Whitehorse.
A witness told police they saw a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am going north overtake them, lose control and leave the road.
The car ended up down a nine-metre embankment, landing on the driver’s side, police say in a news release. Two men were trapped inside.
Witnesses extricated the driver from the vehicle and the Whitehorse Fire Department freed the passenger.
Police did not provide details of the two men’s injuries, other than to say that they are serious.
The North Klondike Highway was closed in both directions for about three hours while the Yukon RCMP collision analyst and recontructionist attended the scene.
Whitehorse RCMP are still investigating. Officers believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
