A police officer was shot at in Haines Junction this morning.

A member of the Haines Junction RCMP was investigating a reported break and enter, just before 7 a.m., when he encountered a suspect vehicle.

While pursuing the vehicle, somebody shot in the direction of the officer, according to an RCMP release.

The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has been transported to Whitehorse for medical treatment.

Police will not say how the officer was injured.

Two people were apprehended shortly after 10 a.m. in connection with this incident.

Investigators are at the scene assembling a more detailed account of the events.
