Not much of an election race for the municipalities

Watson Lake is the only municipality where there will be a healthy contest for both mayor and councillors in the upcoming municipal election. Mayor Nancy Moore is facing off against Robert Ellis and Richard Durocher for her position.

Mayor Nancy Moore is facing off against Robert Ellis and Richard Durocher for her position. Meanwhile, council incumbents Brenda Leach, Sharon Miller and Patti McLeod will run against Raymond Laukkanen, Beverly Lister, Rick Relkoff, Stacy Bauer, Rich Harder, Howard Rick and Cynthia Armstrong for four council positions.

In Mayo, Scott Bolton has been acclaimed as mayor, and Trevor Ellis, Dick Ewing, Michael McGinnis, Kris Pavlovich have all been acclaimed as councillors.

Carmacks Mayor Elaine Wyatt has been acclaimed for another term. Meanwhile six candidates, Tara Wheeler, John Jr. Laughlin, Shwandna Wheeler, Lee Bodie, Karen Gage and Meta Bailie are vying for four council positions in the municipality.

Haines Junction Mayor George Nassiopolous keeps his job, and Ernie MacKinnon and Mike Crawshay will become the only councillors on a four-person council.

In Dawson City, Peter Jenkins, who has previously been mayor of Dawson and an MLA for the Klondike, is hoping to wrestle the position away from John Steins. Current councillors Rick Reimer, Ashley Doiron, Stephen Johnson and Wayne Potoroka have all been acclaimed.
