A missing teen was found safe this morning after hours of searching.

This morning at 3:45 a.m. police received a 911 call reporting a 15-year-old girl was missing in the Copper Ridge area.

“She was with her roommate earlier and was heading for home. But when the roommate came home she wasn’t there and we were called,” said RCMP Const. Dean Hoogland.

Whitehorse RCMP officers along with a dozen search and rescue volunteers began searching the Copper Ridge and surrounding areas. Messages were broadcast on local radio stations to ask for the public’s help.

At approximately 8:10 this morning she was found safe inside a friend’s house.

Police say the teen had arrived home late in the night but could not get into her own home. So she walked over to a friend’s house nearby and was able to spend the night.
