Police are continuing to search for a missing canoeist near Dawson.

“We’ve been out on the river searching with a number of volunteers again yesterday,” said Sgt. Dan Gaudet of the Dawson RCMP.

“And as of this morning we haven’t found him.”

Tyson Foxcroft, originally from Ontario, has been living seasonally in the Yukon.

The 26-year-old was last seen at 2 p.m. Saturday morning.

He was canoeing with a large group of friends on the Yukon River. They were headed to Fortymile.

The canoeists were about 24 kilometres downriver when they lost sight of Foxcroft, who was alone in his canoe except for a couple of dogs.

Authorities were contacted via satellite phone and an extensive search of the surrounding islands and shoreline was conducted.

Both the dogs and canoe were found along the shore, but there has been no sign of Foxcroft. (CO)
