On Wednesday, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Carmacks RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on the Klondike Highway, 10 kilometres south of Braeburn Lodge.

One passenger was seriously injured after being thrown from the vehicle.

Emergency Medical Services from both Whitehorse and Carmacks responded, but 46-year-old Carmacks resident Archie James Lennie died before emergency personnel arrived.

The vehicle’s driver, 44-year-old Roderick Clement from Tulita, Northwest Territories, was arrested.

Clement was charged with impaired driving causing death, refusal to take a breath test and driving while disqualified.

Upon further investigation, police determined there were two other adults and a child in the vehicle.

These people had left the scene before emergency personnel arrived.

The three people turned up in Whitehorse and were examined and released by doctors.

Anyone with further information can contact the Carmacks detachment at 863-2677. (GK)
