The body of a recreational kayaker was found in Lake Bennett on Thursday.
Carcross RCMP were notified of an overdue kayaker in the area in the early afternoon and located an abandoned kayak shortly after.
A search was initiated immediately, with both RCMP Air Services and Carcross Search and Rescue teams involved.
The body was found about an hour later.
It appears that the individual breached his kayak while paddling alone. No foul play is suspected.
Police are not releasing the 35-year-old man’s identity at the family’s request.
The RCMP reminds recreational boaters to take all the necessary precautions and to use special caution in this year’s continuing high water levels. (CO)
