The Yukon government has awarded a $11.5 million contract to build a 48-unit seniors’ housing complex in Whitehorse.

Yukon firm NGC Builders won the bid.

The building, to be located on Front St. at Ogilvie St., will be energy efficient and include accessible design elements for seniors with mobility issues, according to a news release.

Construction is expected to wrap up in the fall of 2015.

The Yukon government unveiled the new Alexander St. seniors’ residence just last week.

That 34-unit building cost $12.7 million.
