The Oak Bay Police Department seized a fake Alberta driver’s licence from a 17-year-old after stopping the teen for travelling 43 km/h over the posted speed limit.
On April 3 and 4, Oak Bay police issued tickets to three drivers for excessive speeding, and issued a warning for a forged document in possession of the 17-year-old male.
Just after 9 p.m. on April 3, police observed a vehicle travelling on Beach Drive at 89 km/h in a 40 km/h road. The teen driving the car was issued a $368 ticket and his parent’s vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
Later that same evening, on the same road, police stopped a second vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old, for going 83 km/h.
“”During the interaction, police observed a second driver’s licence in the teen’s possession. The teen produced the Alberta driver’s licence, which was in his likeness, and police noted that the date of birth was different than that of his B.C. driver’s licence,” noted a release from the Oak Bay Police Department. “A check of the Alberta driver’s licence confirmed that it was a forged document. The teen admitted to police that it was a ‘fake ID’ that he used to enter a bar.”
The licence was seized and the teen was issued a ticket for excessive speeding and his parents’ vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
The next day, April 4, police were conducting speed at the same road and a Laser speed device was used to capture the speed of a vehicle travelling at 85 km/h. The vehicle was stopped and the 19-year-old driver was issued a $368 ticket for excessive speeding and her vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
