A 19-year-old Whitehorse man has been charged with attempted murder following a weekend shooting that sent a 49-year-old man to hospital.
Aaron Deep Purewal, who previously lived in British Columbia, was arrested on April 2 and appeared in territorial court on Wednesday.
He also faces charges of breaking his curfew and a court order to keep the peace and be on good behaviour. He has also been charged with threatening to kill another man on April 2.
Whitehorse RCMP was called to a home in Granger at around 3 a.m. on Sunday after complaints of what was believed to be a gunshot. Police are confident this incident is related to the drug trade, Const. Christine Grant said in a release.
The victim remains in hospital in serious but stable condition, Grant said Thursday morning.
Purewal is under a court order not to contact the shooting victim, the man he threatened, three of their siblings and their mother.
Purewell is currently in custody. He will next appear in court on April 24.
