I think the public would do well to read your coverage of the Slinky Placer Mine Ð Dome Road project in Dawson City.

It has stirred a considerable amount of attention (opposition) including former mayor John Steins, many local residents and Yukon Conservation Society. It may even have the greatest number of responses for any single designated office project.

The classic story seems to be between exercising the current legal right to mine as a claims holder, and balancing other land users’ rights Ð residents (including basic human rights for peaceful enjoyment of community). Yukon government submission to YESAB is weak, and is silent from the tourism branch. No one from YTG is taking the position of social well being of residents into account, nor the potential economic loss of property values.

MLA Steve Nordick has been directly addressed in submissions but with no apparent responses to date.

The YESAB deadline for public comments was March 1, although the option to extend exists.

I think Yukoners would appreciate hearing about this matter.
