Re recommended Yukon wolf conservation and management plan up for review:

Wolves are an essential part of healthy ecosystems.

Wolves are already legally hunted and trapped (killed) in the Yukon from August 1 through to March 31 every year. Trappers are not restricted to the number of wolves they kill on their trapline(s), no matter how they kill those wolves. That means they can bait and shoot as many wolves as they want.

The new wolf “conservation” plan is all about killing wolves, not conserving them. Where is the science that proves and justifies that human intervention and manipulation of wildlife is essential?

Instead of handing wolves yet another death sentence for being what they are - natural predators - it is past time to address human behaviour.

It is never humane or ethical to kill wildlife before their natural lifespan ends, and this plan to kill more wolves has nothing to do with conservation.

This is a plan to kill more. Nothing more, nothing less. As a “humane” species, we can do better than that.
