When I recently passed the Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board building, the “injuries count” was at 51. I am shocked that so many workers had been injured in what was then less than 17 regular working days this year.
We are not keeping one another safe at work.
Workers: get trained, wear the proper equipment, follow safety procedures and protect each other.
Employers: make sure your employees are appropriately trained, that they follow procedures and that they use the safety equipment you provide.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Let’s bend the trend.
