Your paper was absolutely wrong on September 18 to say there is a law requiring cyclists to register their bicycles with the city. It isn’t just that the law is not being enforced. There is no such requirement. I checked this out by going online at the law library. The law only provides that a bicycle may be registered. It does not say, “must be.”
What I’ve just done is not unusual for me. I’ve long since lost count of how many times somebody is telling me what you legally have to do or can’t do, when they really don’t know what they are talking about.
