Open letter to Housing Minister Brad Cathers:

The Yukon Residential Landlord Association and the Yukon Real Estate Association are against subsidizing new construction of residential units in the manner that the Yukon government is currently proposing – that subsidy being an outright grant of 50 per cent by the Yukon Housing Corp. to select developers of new residential rental accommodation.

As a longtime resident and an ex-realtor it seems to me that the territorial bureaucrats are not listening to the experienced opinion of these two well-informed associations whose very livelihood is dependent on being on the ball in assessing the market!

Better for you in the Yukon government to take a second look, rather than risk a major error for which we will all end up paying for in the years to come.
