My preference for the Peel Watershed is to protect as much land as possible. It would be a great day for Yukoners if we could protect this whole area from industrial development.
Free-entry mining may have been a great thing for the Yukon 100 years ago. But those times are gone.
This huge unroaded area is of tremendous value for its wildness. This value will only increase as more and more of our planet is developed. There are few places left in the world that have the opportunity to preserve such an incredible expanse of land.
I hope the Yukon government and First Nation governments will be courageous and protect this wild land and keep it roadless.
