Open letter to Premier Darrell Pasloski:

I am calling on you to reinforce democracy in the Yukon Territory by supporting the recently proposed “Fairness in Political Contributions Act.”

I believe that this act will enhance the political voice of ordinary Yukoners by restricting the ability of union and business interests to influence Yukon territorial politics. The strengthening of our democratic institutions is an issue that cuts across party lines and, with other jurisdictions across Canada making similar changes, I believe that this act is a strong move in the right direction.

I am concerned about the effects of wealthy Outside donations on our electoral process and, with the impending territorial election, it is important for you to act quickly on this issue. Please support Yukoners’ right to political leaders that truly represent their ideas and aspirations.
