This recent cold spell and snow has me thinking about all the animals in the Yukon who have been suffering and struggling to stay alive.

The chained dogs and the stray dogs who do not have a warm refuge to wait for a change in the weather.

The distress of the trapped animals who slowly freeze to death or wait for the final blow from the trapper who will sell their hides so people can make a fashion statement. The fur always looks much better on the animals!

I urge rural pet owners to please keep their domestic animals in a happy, healthy and safe environment away from nature’s natural predators.

After all, we don’t need to further increase the human-wildlife conflicts that remain unresolved in our Larger than Life destination.

For the animals!
