Oil, gas, Peel need more thought

I have never seen such public outrage in the Yukon regarding the government's complete dismissal of citizens' concerns.

I have never seen such public outrage in the Yukon regarding the government’s complete dismissal of citizens’ concerns.

Clearly the government does not represent the people but rather mining and industrial-scale development.

The oil and gas exploration proposal in the Whitehorse Basin is yet another example of an uncaring, intolerant and, quite frankly, ignorant majority government, which does what it damn well pleases despite overwhelming public opposition.

This proposal, along with the Peel issue, needs careful planning and consultation before any further actions are contemplated. The government needs to listen and to heed the public demands for a moratorium on oil and gas exploration with a thorough examination by the Yukon environmental review process.

We will not settle for anything less.
