So we are having an election in the Yukon territory.

I respectfully ask that no one from the Conservative/Yukon Party contact this household with any form of surveys or questions.

My husband, Fred Berger, passed away in 2009. Both the Whitehorse Star and the Yukon News ran fine writeups on his contribution to the Yukon.

Yet midway through 2010, a letter came addressed to Alfred Berger. It asked him to respond to the enclosed questionnaire, and came from the office of Senator Daniel Lang in Ottawa.

Danny Lang was an MLA in the mid-1970s, along with Fred.

Then, a few weeks before this year’s federal election, a female phoned asking to speak to Alfred Berger. “What is it about?” I asked. “I have some questions from the Conservative Party,” she replied.

My retort was not polite.

It is rather crass just having a name on a contact list without bothering to update information about that person.

And hurtful also.
