Open letter to Linda Leon:
I was very impressed with your letter expressing concern over the phasing out of the per-vote subsidy for political parties proposed in the budget, and your suggestions to Ryan Leef, our MP. The erosion of democracy is of great concern to me also. However, one word that you used, was new to me and I haven’t found anyone to clarify it for me, so others might also benefit from a description. What are 10 percenters?
(Editor’s note: 10 percenters refers to free mailings MPs can distribute, once a month, to voters in ridings other than their own. They are restricted to 10 per cent, or less, of voters in the riding, hence the name.)
