Is it time we considered putting another set of traffic lights on the Alaska Highway?

I think so.

I have been approached by both motorists and pedestrians in Porter Creek who also believe that this is a good idea.

The traffic lights should be put at the corner of Clyde Wann Road and the Alaska Highway, adjacent to Goodies Gas Bar.

Southbound highway traffic is supposed to slow down to 70 kilometres per hour just before this intersection, but that doesn’t always happen and the Crestview walking trail terminates at this intersection.

Parents with children at Holy Family are particularly concerned and have been trying to get lights put in for some time now. This is the spot where motorists and pedestrians meet. At a minimum there should be something in place to let approaching traffic know that someone wants to cross the highway.

As it stands, there is nothing to indicate there is a pedestrian crosswalk there. Kudos to you folks for raising this issue.

You have my full support.
