Open letter to Mike Power:
This is regarding your recent letter (The Peel Will be Mined, the News, April 27) in which you stated that “the Peel land use plan was developed by an unelected and unaccountable commission and staff.”
You also stated that “the last election was turned into a referendum on mining and the Peel plan.”
And was the last election about the Peel? From what I gather, the Yukon Party was silent on the Peel issue during the last election campaign.
So if the elected members of the Yukon Party and their associates want to modify the Peel plan, then let’s have two plans: the original plan A and the modified plan B and then let all Yukon residents vote on it.
