I see that the local Tory expert on everything (Murray Martin) thinks that we should keep king Stephen Harper in power because of the fragile economic recovery.
King Harper is the person who came into power in 2006 with a big surplus and started spending like there was no tomorrow. He dropped taxes for his corporate buddies and was surprised when there was a $56-billion deficit.
We want this guy handling our finances again? He can’t even tell what the cost of his jets will be, or the price of the prisons he wants to build to hold his friends and staff.
When the experts try to tell him the real cost, he takes a page out of Dennis Fentie’s notebook and says that they do not know what they are talking about and they don’t understand à just short of calling them liars.
Give me a break, it took Paul Martin several years to clean up the last Conservative financial mess. It is now going to take several years for someone to clean up king Harper’s mess.
This same expert wants us to believe that this election is unnecessary, conveniently forgetting that king Harper called an unnecessary election in 2008, after only two years in office, breaking his own fixed election date law.
When Parliament stops working productively, because of a prime minister who can’t work with those members representing 62 per cent of the voters, then it is time for an election.
The voters then have the opportunity to say they want a king or a prime minister in office.
PS: A United States budget officer says the jets will cost a minimum of $110 million per plane, not the $75 million that king Harper has been telling us. However he did not comment on the cost of prisons for king Harper’s friends.
